"Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance"(seriously!)--January 28, 2017

Emma performed with the Midway High School choirs and drill team in the music spectacular "Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance" January 27-28, 2017.  She soloed in "Shambala."

From "The Diner," showcasing 1950s rock 'n roll.

Let Carnival season begin!  Plenty of time to "sin" before Ash Wednesday (March 1, 2017).

King Cake soda?  And I'm pretty sure the Mardi Gras Bock wasn't "Born in the Rockies."  Oh, I see. The Coors sign is in the background.

Colton and friends in D.C. for Trump's inauguration

Colton met friends in D.C. on Inauguration Day for the big event.  The following day, Brandy and Mya joined the Women's March in Asheville;  LaWanda marched in Portland; and Anjanette and Fox joined the approximately 40,000 marchers in Austin.  So proud of all of you for showing your love for our country!

Gutter work continues: Friday, January 20, 2017

The front gutters are done.  Papa Tom set up scaffolding to install the gutters on the back of the house.  Was strange to look out the kitchen window and see his feet!

Fox and Fuzzy: Wednesday, January 18, 2017

After Fox's weekly dance class, she and Amon came over for dinner.  That meant Fuzzy got some play time out of the cage!

Our TV took us to an alternate universe!

We were watching a documentary when we noticed the very creative filmmaker was outlining people in neon colors. Then we checked other channels.  Oh no!  Neon outlines everywhere! Not good Greg and Roy coming over for the Super Bowl in a few weeks!  Had to trade in the nearly 9-year-old Sony for a new TV.   The new one has wi-fi, a big deal for us.  We have the cable box remote, the Roku remote, the Blue-Ray remote, the TV remote . . . . I'm probably leaving one out.

Gutters going up

The Austin drought is over.  Lake Travis full again.  It's time for the gutters to go back up!

Our first tomato! In January!

Thanks to Papa Tom's greenhouse gardening skills, we have our first tomato of the year in the first month of the year!

Migrating flamingos

A flamboyance of flamingos nesting in a neighbor's tree.  Perhaps on a road trip to Austin from Florida?

Happy 30, Amon!

We celebrated Amon's big 3-0 on January 4, his birthday eve.  He was excited to be off work the next day.

Amon, Fox, and P. Tom.  Per Amon's request, Papa grilled steaks and we had black beans, guacamole, and sour cream on the side.

Three generations.  Can my baby boy really be 30???

Amon's birthday card was sealed with a kiss, courtesy of Fox.  Adding the teeth was Papa's suggestion.

Einar and Chase

Einar and Chase have established, finally, that they are bros after all.  Maybe because Chase now weighs over 10 pounds?  Chase's first birthday isn't until April. Gotta wonder how much bigger he will get.

New Year's Day

Our neighbor had friends over for an open house on New Year's Day.  One of the people we met was Daniel, from Oregon, who's pursing a doctorate in music at UT.  One of his projects is the Beerthoven concerts.  You show up in jeans and sip beer while absorbing Beethoven's sublime sounds.

We plan to attend the next Beerthoven event.

Happy New Year from Austin!

Ready to welcome in the new year at Hotel San Jose, while deejay spins the BeeGees, "Mickey, Mickey, you're so fine!'," all the stuff I barely listened to back in the day, immersed as I was in mothering my sons when those hits were popular.

The clock's counting down!
