The last Presidential candidate debate (September 30, 2020)

Brandy's friend from the Beto Presidential campaign brought over her life-size Biden to watch the debate with us.
Guess who we supported?  According to CNN, Biden won.  According to Fox, Trump won.  Sigh.  When will we have more objective journalism in this country?

Playland Skate Center and movie night (September 27, 2020)

Who are these masked skaters?
A Playland Skate Center staff member teaches River and Mya how to skate backwards.
Movie night with "Annie" the musical.  Otis fled the room when the hero and heroine grownups kissed at the end.
Da boyz.
Avoiding the hot lava on the floor.
Who are these kids?
Lots of laughs with the face switching app.

Turtles at the Lady Bird Lake Board walk and River's coding skills (September 26, 2020)

Tons of turtles at Lady Bird Lake
Piper and Papa can't believe how many turtles are sunning on logs.
River finishes his remote school work early so he can spend time designing games on his laptop.

Micah's in town! (September 25, 2020)

I love feeding my boys!  Micah gets coffee, toast, eggs and salsa, sausage.  Welcome home!
Otis gave Micah the "good" game controller and best chair.
Piper's got this!
Hail, hail, the gang's all here!
Brandy really likes that King Cake vodka.  Thanks for sending, Donna!

Those darn tobacco worms (who eat tomato and pepper plants)! (September 22-23, 2020)

Mya took good care of two of the approximately 16 tobacco worms Papa has found in the tomato garden.  These two are named Chuy and Baguette, I think.  Mya?  As of November 28, they are cocooning in the butterfly habitat.
Not a leaf left on the stem!

Northwest Park and Dad's hibiscus (September 20, 2020)

Now there's a bike rack!  The fifth bike, Piper's, is inside the SUV.
The "Dazed and Confused" baseball field at Northwest Park.
Fox finds a perfect climbing tree. What about the oak behind her?
Piper, Banksy, and Amon on the basketball court.
Well, it WAS a basketball court.  The basket has been taken down due to the pandemic.  No games allowed! Disappointing for all of us, but especially for Otis.
I brought Dad's hibiscus home from Shreveport with me at the first of March.  Blooming beautifully.

Scary stories (September 20, 2020)

Reading Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark collected by Alvin Schwartz with Halloween eyes and creepy Kappa. When my Mom was pregnant with me, she won Kappa in a raffle.  I need to send Kappa to the doll hospital for some sprucing up.
Scary Mia.
Piper and Fox have their own scary story to tell.

Zephyr v. Mylo face off
Banksy hanging out on Mia's precious divan
Queen Piper
King River
Queen Mya
Mya and Brandy two doors down from our house.  The RV has shown up since the beginning of the pandemic.  Guessing someone's family member needed a place to live.
Sidewalk art honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away September 18, 2020

Movie night and more (September 18, 2020)

"My Spy" was fun for the kids and grownups alike.
Movie night snacks.
Banksy is such a good boy!
"My Spy" inspired kidnapping of River.
Brandy is safe from the roach in the corner, until it is caught and rehomed outside, while Piper shows us her frozen glove puppet.

At the Arroyo Seco (dry ditch) down the street (September 17, 2020)

Mya and River navigated the sides of the arroyo in their roller blades to join Papa.  The arroyo is a couple of blocks from our house.
Looks like someone left a stepping stone in the arroyo and Piper found it!
I've rarely seen a katydid before it sheds.  Mya found this beautiful bug in the arroyo.

A little bit of NOLA and another night visitor (September 15, 2020)

Thank you, Donna, for sending us tastes of NOLA to enjoy by the birthday lava lamp Martin sent me!  We miss you both!  After the pandemic, we must all get together.
Another night visitor.  No matter what you think, possums are good for the environment.  They eat ticks and have no disease that crosses over to humans.  We know this from our Wildlife Rescue days when we'd hold four possum babies in our cupped hands and raise them until they were ready to be released into the wild.  We usually got them after their Mama had been hit by a car or attacked by a dog and they had been rescued from her pouch.

Hanging out (September 13, 2020)

Zooming with Micah
Zooming with Micah ahead of his visit at the end of September

Night visitor AND bandit of the cat food!
