Honoring Dad's life (Monday, February 3, 2020)

So hard to say good-bye.

Paying last respects to Dad, a Navy veteran who served from 1945-1949

Dad only wanted a graveside service, but it was rainy, so we held the service inside.  He would have loved it.  Craig, who knew Dad for 38 years, presided.  Michael Craig arranged for an honor guard, which was meaningful and touching, particularly when the buglar played "Taps" and the flag was presented to us. Dad would have loved Emma's heartfelt a capella singing of "Amazing Grace." The ceremony concluded with Michael Craig's reading of "The Watch," honoring Dad's standing the watch for 92 years.  Left to right are Craig, Michael Craig, Martha, me, Tom, Donna, Martin, Emma, Joyce.  Also present at the service were Craig's parents and my cousin Elaine Rupert.
