Witch's Castle in Portland (July 2, 2024)

Papa, Fox, and I hiked a half mile through the thick green forest to the Witch's Castle in Portland's Macleay Park.

The stone structure was built in the 1930s to be a ranger station and bathrooms for hikers. In 1962, the structure was heavily damaged in a storm and was abandoned. Moss soon covered the stone walls and the roof caved in.

The structure was mostly forgotten until the 1980s, when local high school students starting holding keggers there on Friday nights, something that happens to this day.

I wonder if the graffiti is ever removed? Probably pointless, as it would result in an empty canvas for the artists.
