72! How is that possible? (July 26, 2025)

Started the day at the apiary. We love our bees!
No further celebration.
Just my usual Duolingo, novel writing, and Caroline Girvan rest day.

Where am I supposed to sleep?
Colette is letting me know my usual spot is hers.
Papa Tom is playing WordWorm.
Big Boy is taking up way more than his share of the space.

Almost 72. Yikes! (July 25, 2025)

We meet Greg and Roy and sometimes Amon, Fox, and Brock at Taquero Mucho's happy hour on Fridays. Staff surprised me with a birthday cake on July 25th. Thank you, Diane and Mariana! Diane, left, is our regular Friday waitress.

Roy, Tom, and Fox with me. Yes, Taquero Mucho is very pink!

Greg (rare photo), Mariana (who's friend made the cakes), Roy, and Papa Tom's hand. Mystery staff in the background. No photo with Amon. :-(

Another ginger in the family (July 15, 2025)

Red suits you, Fox!

Tragic flash flooding (July 4-5, 2025)

In catastrophic flash flooding, the Guadalupe River rose more than 26 feet in just 45 minutes, with rainfall totals exceeding 20 inches in some areas of the watershed. Our hearts go out to all those harmed.

"The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play."

Remember The Cat in the Hat?

Papa Tom is ready to drive around even though citizens are urged not to get out in the heavy rain. We received 3.58 inches.
Standing water at the corner of Alguno and Woodrow.
The neighborhood Arroyo Seco (Dry Creek)
flowed with rushing water.
The overflowing gutters couldn't keep up with the heavy rainfall even though Papa Tom had recently cleaned them out.

Cousins' Camp (Thursday, July 3, 2025 in Oak Hill)

On July 3, we went to Cousins' Camp at Jan and Jim's. Left to right are Sadie, Jake, Lucy, Jim Howell, Miles, Jim Roberts, Papa Tom, and Jan. Jim Roberts has the spinner power!
Papa Tom adds paint to our spin art. We all left the garage while the spinner spun. Maybe the magic happens better if we don't watch? Our finished art is in the bottom photo.

Tie-dyed hippies with our spin art. I never made tie-dyed shirts back in the '60s. First time for everything!
