Taos Earthship (October 16, 2023)

 We visited the sustainable autonomous Earthship outside Taos. They are constructed from 50% recycled/upcycled materials and rely on thermal mass for heating and cooling. Learn more about them at earthship.com.

Rainwater is stored  in cisterns and used three times: drinking/bathing/cooking; the garden; gray water. This filtration system is on the roof.

Earthships can be built at any size. I wish I had a better photo of the huge one across the way. If we move the House of Light and Joy off our lot, would the City of Austin let us build an Earthship?
