Taos: Rio Grande Gorge (October 16, 2023)

At 650 feet above the river, the bridge is the second highest in the U.S. highway system and the fifth highest in the U.S.

The Rio Grande originates in the Colorado Rockies as a mountain stream and flows 1900 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. 

Summer activities in Taos include riding the Rio Grande rapids.

The railing is too low to prevent jumps. Several suicide hotline kiosks are on the bridge. You only have to push a button to make the call. I hope lives have been saved.
