Our travel day started at 4:30 a.m., with Amon generously driving us to the airport. Thanks, Amon! We flew Delta from Austin to Detroit, where we had a 2-hour layover. We had to circle the airport in Montreal for about a half hour before landing, due to a rainstorm. But we finally arrived. Our phones didn't work there, but luckily for us, there were pay phones every where, so we were able to call the rental car company to request a shuttle to their lot. Driving around was easy, all roads well marked, except that there's no right turn on red in Montreal. Thank you, Lonely Plant guidebook, for that tip.
