| About 9 miles from Marfa, Texas, is the Marfa lights viewing station built by the Texas Department of Transportation. We saw the bobbing lights the night before and came back during the day to check out the desert landscape. The Mystery Ghost Lights were first documented by a rancher in 1883. Swamp gas? Phospherescent mineral displays? Ball lightning? UFOs? Wandering spirits of Apache ancestors? Nobody knows. We saw them hang in the air, combine, split apart, zig and zag. Very weird! |
