West Texas trip: Alpine (August 26-29, 2019)

Some 411 miles west of Austin is Alpine, Texas, the largest city in the largest county in the largest state in the contiguous United States.  Only a Texan would say that.  The porch of our casita looked on a barnyard of chickens, goats, ducks, horses and cows.  The goats were friendly and curious.

Goats, which are grazing animals, have horizontal pupils to enhance peripheral vision for seeing predators.
Feeding time in the barnyard.  I love how the goat clambered to the top of the bale.

Henny Penny and friends left us a dozen fresh eggs.
We enjoyed omelets three days in a row.
