Big eyes, tiny nose (October 17, 2021)

Look who Papa found in the garden: a Central Texas dog day cicada.  They typically emerge in late summer and live 2-5 years. I often see their skeletons after they've shed but rarely a real live cicada.  Papa gently placed it back outside, of course.
A Central Texas 10-year-old.
