Time for Kappa's makeover (November 11, 2021)

After 68 or 69 years, Kappa needs a serious makeover!  Time to move from "Creepy Doll" to Kappa once more.  When my Mom was pregnant with me, she won Kappa in a sorority raffle at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, where my Dad was a petroleum engineering student.  Until about 10 years ago, when my Mom told me of Kappa's origin, I'd always thought her name was Cappel (rhymes with "chapel.")
Dorothy's doll shop is in Geronimo, Texas, near Seguin.  She's nationally recognized as a doll restorer.  She started by removing Kappa's head to remove the mildew from her eyes and clean her face.  Old lollipop sticks were inside the head.  Hmmm. I must have "fed" her at some point in her life and mine.
Her eyes are green, not milky blue.  Dorothy thought the eyes originally were blue.  She said she'd wash and style Kappa's hair and paint her lips. But she couldn't take Kappa apart to repair the "crying" mechanism.
I hope Kappa has better luck than Humpty Dumpty!
